Demand Management Initiative Invests in Water-Saving Projects Across the Region

San Bernardino Valley recently awarded funding to local water retailers through its annual Demand Management Initiative, supporting projects that advance water conservation, improve efficiency and strengthen the region’s long-term water reliability.

Every drop counts—and water retailers across the San Bernardino Valley are putting that principle into action.

Through its annual Demand Management Initiative (DMI), San Bernardino Valley recently awarded funding to local water retailers for projects designed to conserve water, improve water-use efficiency and help meet the region’s long-term water needs.

DMI supports water conservation projects developed by local retailers to address the unique needs of their communities. By investing in locally driven solutions, San Bernardino Valley helps retailers implement projects that reduce water use while contributing to a more reliable and resilient water future for the entire region.

Funding Local Conservation Projects

This year’s DMI funding will support a variety of water-saving projects throughout the San Bernardino Valley:

• Yucaipa Valley Water District — Supporting its Water Leak Detection Program to identify water loss and improve system efficiency.
• San Bernardino Municipal Water Department — Developing compliance-tracking tools to support water-use reduction goals and monitor progress.
• West Valley Water District — Developing a Water Use Efficiency Master Plan that will establish guidelines for residential outdoor water use and commercial, industrial and institutional (CII) landscapes.
• City of Loma Linda — Investing in Eagle Aerial Solutions to gather detailed, accurate data that will help the city better understand water use throughout its service area.
• City of Rialto — Developing its Water Conservation Program, including expanded customer rebate opportunities, educational outreach and marketing efforts.
• City of Colton — Implementing a water conservation education program that will provide CII customers with tools and resources to improve water-use efficiency and increase water savings.
